Polyfilla and erm.... gravel

What do i mean by Polyfilla and gravel? Well... I had an idea to create a painting of a close up of a flower head and had some crazy idea to make it very 3D.

I wanted lots of depth and texture so after a bit of thought I decided to give those two materials a go!!

Anyway... was kind of a one of experiment and here are the results!

Sunflowers...

Some of my sunflower canvases... just wanted to do something big bright and bold for the first one, but loved doing it so decided to paint a few more. Might not be everyone's cup of tea as they are a bit "in your face". These are really tactile bits of work.. loads of texture from the thick impasto paint and the texture gel i used for the seeds.

Ideas Ideas Ideas

At the moment my brain is full to bursting with ideas for paintings!

Although I have mainly painted with Acrylics so far I am desperate to use other types of paint. I have never really used watercolours and I would love to be able to produce work in this style (possibly been a bit scared to try before to be honest as it isn't as controlled as acrylic) but also oils too.. the high detail and realistic effects you can get with them... hmmm... lots to ponder!

I will get experimenting..

Day 1 - My Art Blog Begins

Well.. I have been thinking about starting a blog for my paintings for a while now and what the hell... here I am!

After taking Art A Level I didn't paint again for a very long time... but in 2010 I went out and bought some Art supplies and started messing about.. forgot how much I love painting!

Anyway... I've been experimenting mainly with acrylics and trying to paint in a more free and contemporary way than I have ever done before.. I don't really know what "my" style is quite yet or even what I enjoy most.. so I am going to write this blog to record my journey, as well as show people my work.

Hope you enjoy
