It's done.. well almost.. I just want to add a bit of detail to the stalks to complete it (although I am sure I will touch up some other bits too!!)
I have always wanted to give Oil paints a proper go and this is my first attempt! Just a little still life of a Chilli cut in half but I really enjoyed doing it.
It's on a piece of 7x5" gesso'd board.
Watch this space because I really can see myself doing a lot of detailed stuff in oil now.
Exciting!.... Hope you like!
I will add some proper photo's when it's 100% finished as this was quickly taken on my phone
I am a UK based Artist who paints mainly in Acrylics.. creating bold and bright images. i also combine texture with my picture whether using thick impasto paint and broad brush strokes, mineral, gel mediums, actual pieces of stone and slate or anything that comes to mind.

New Slate Painting
Well just finished my latest slate painting.. It's a smallish piece at only 400mm high by 300mm wide on 18mm deep box canvas. I actually had no idea what I wanted to end up with I just started arranging the slate on the canvas and stuck it down with the fabulous product that is No More Nails.. lovely! Feel lost without a tube of that in the house ;-)
I added some mineral texture gel to give it even more texture as I want my work to be tactile.
When it comes to the final colour I knew I wanted the 2 main ones to be Turquoise and Gold.. that was it!
I actually tried something different this time and sprayed a black acrylic undercoat. How much quicker than brushwork?? and it's gets in all the nooks and crannies between the slate pieces!
The rest was all brushwork, drybrushing and ink washing with indian ink
Hope you like...
It is actually available to buy if anyone is interested?

Facebook for Painting?
Ages ago i closed my Facebook account down.. but I keep reading at the moment how it's a good tool for promoting yourself as an Artist so I have decided to start one up again?! Not totally convinced but will give it a shot!
Be interesting to hear from other artists who have used FB in this way?
